At RI-CO Plastics, we understand that we have a responsibility as one of the UK's leading retailers of plastic components to go beyond just delivering high-quality products. We've therefore made it our aim to deliver exceptional plastic products, while actively seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint.

The Environmental Impact of Plastics

Injection moulding generates plastic waste. This waste typically comes in the form of non-essential elements such as sprues and runners. If this waste is not managed correctly, it often ends up in landfill sites. Once there it can take centuries to fully decompose, contributing to environmental degradation and the depletion of natural resources.

We take this issue seriously and that's why we've made it a priority to reduce waste at every stage in our production process.

Closing the Loop

We integrate responsible recycling into all of our manufacturing processes. This includes:

At the end of production, we break down plastic residue for reuse in future production cycles.
We melt down plastic components into pellets, ready to be reinjected.
We use recycled materials for non-critical parts, whilst maintaining full product integrity.

Implementing these steps has enabled us to significantly reduce our demand for raw materials, cut our energy usage, and play our part in creating a more circular and sustainable manufacturing process.

Our sustainability strategy goes beyond recycling own materials. We're also committed to:

Recycling up to 100% of plastic and production waste from our future projects.
Processing and reusing plastic waste on-site using granulators.
Sourcing our raw materials exclusively from ISO 9002-certified suppliers.
Collaborating with our clients and suppliers to minimise waste and increase the use of recycled polymers.
Designing recyclable products that can be reintegrated at the end of their life cycle.
